  The development low carbon economy has a great impact on our traditional mode of production, life style and values. Faced with the grand tendency of energy conservation and emission reduction advocated from the national level to the local level and of low carbon economy, manufacturing enterprises in China that are forging ahead with great difficulties, need greater courage to challenge itself. Ronghui Circuit Technology (Huizhou) Co., Ltd. (herein after referred to as Ronghui) insists on clean production and recycling, implements energy consumption reduction through 3C project. New technologies and new business are used as follow-up support to control excessive emission. Ronghui practices “green procurement” and delivers it to the whole industrial chain and endeavors to create the image of clean production. Low corruption and low emission are the first step for Ronghui to low carbon economy.

Waste heat recovery

  Waste heat recovery is an important measure for clean production. It plays an important role in energy conservation and emission reduction and can yield immense economic benefits.

  Ronghui started to put waste heat recovery system into use in 2008. The system turns the waste heat generated by water chillers that provide chilled water for production lines into domestic hot water for the use of industrial park through heat exchange system.

  Solar power is the greenest energy. Ronghui makes full use of solar power resources and installs solar power system in its industrial park so as to ensure the supply of domestic hot water in case of maintenance or breakdown of water chillers.

Chilled water storage project

  Chilled water storage system works in a way called “avoiding peak time and making full use of low time”. That is, the system refrigerates and stores water by using water chillers in low time for power at night and lowers the temperature of chilled water that is needed in production by making use of the low temperature water stored in the peak time for power in the day time. In this way, the running time of water chillers can be reduced. Chilled water storage system reduces power needed in peak time and makes rational use of electric power. Thus, ease pressure on grid and save consumption of power.

  Put into use by the end of 2009, Chilled water system in Ronghui has achieved 9,000RTH/day of storage and 4,000 tons of overall water storage. It can transfer around 2.4 million degrees of power in peak time and save electric charge worth of 1.8 million Yuan annually.

The renovation of rotary dehumidifier for purifying air conditioners

  The renovation of rotary dehumidifier for purifying air conditioners was completed in September, 2009 with an overall investment of 650,000 Yuan. This renovation makes it possible to avoid problems like excessive coldness and hotness existing in the original system and effectively reduce energy consumption via pretreatment of air conditioning’ fresh wind by the rotary dehumidifier and the use of pretreated dry fresh wind in the original system. It is calculated that after the renovation, 475,000 degrees of heating consumption by air conditioning are saved per year. In the meantime, the temperature of the water chillers is set at 11℃, 3 degrees higher than the original. As a result, the dew point temperature is raised and about 1.344 million RTH of cold thermal storage are saved annually (equal to 240,000 degrees of power consumption), which saves electric bills worth of 505,000 Yuan.

Energy conservation project

  In 2009, under the leadership of 3C, 143 projects related to water and power saving were implemented throughout the Ronghui.

  Ronghui drafts its own power consumption management software. The software carries out statistical analysis of power consumption in every shift of procedure recorded and makes sure that occasions of abnormal power consumption are corrected in time. Ronghui further improves its stimulating policy for power consumption, which ensures the progress of power conservation through rewards and punishments. Procedures that achieve significant success in saving power will be rewarded while those that fail to reach the aim of power conservation will be punished accordingly. Ronghui actively renovates technologies, processes and facilities to save energy. Actions such as improving the temperature control of heating devices in the production line, avoid consuming power in the peak time while water is purified. At the same time, Ronghui intensifies its supervision over large equipments and boosts the utilization rate of main equipments through energy saving and renovation. In the meantime, Ronghui popularizes recycled water in the production line and sets up goal for water and power consumption in procedures. Power consumption of unit product in 2009 decreased by 28.11% compared to that of 2008, surpassing the goal of deceasing by 10% set at the end of 2008.。

  In addition, 3C launches 23 projects to reduce raw material consumption, including optimizing make-up scheme in design, enhancing material utilization rate, implementing the new technology of recycling net washing water, and recycling of micro corrosion liquid. In this way, it makes its due contribution to emission reduction.

  All these projects guarantee the reduction of power consumption. Compared with 2008, quantity of power each unit area, electric charge each unit area and power consumption that is needed to earn production value worth of 100,000 Yuan in 2009 decreased by 16.63%, 18.87% and 3.66% respectively.

  Emission reduction is practiced mainly in two aspects, i.e. the reduction of the quantity of the emission of polluted waste water and pollutants, which facilitates Ronghui to control and reduce the emission of pollutants, to cut down wastes from the beginning and to realize the conversion from the end-of-pipe treatment to pollution prevention and strict control through out the whole production process, so as to improve the efficiency of resources utilization and promote clean production.

Water conservation and emission reduction
Water conservation management
  Ronghui has called upon its entire staff to save water, implemented and improved water consumption assessment since 2001.
  Production Department of Ronghui installs flow meters at inlets of overall tap water, overall reused water, water needed by separate working procedures, and water reused by separate procedures respectively. The amount of water of each inlet required by paper concerned is labeled on the flow meters. Ronghui formulates Monitoring List of Water Consumption by Working Procedures, which is filled in by supervisors of different procedures after every shift and reported to engineers accountable for production management, who register and manage statistics submitted. Process engineers formulate Water Consumption standard by Different Procedures, standardize water consumption of the production of each item by each procedure. Material Department takes the total amount of water consumed of each procedure into consideration of performance appraisal, works out the standard total water consumption according to production areas of products, compares the actual water consumption of each procedure recorded in the monitoring list with the standard water consumption, and achieves the integration of planned water consumption and rewards and punishment by showing explicitly within the company rewards and punishment accordingly.

Water recycling
  Water recycling in Ronghui is carried out by treating industrial waster water to different extent in various ways. After different treatments, waste water reaches the standard of the requirement of processes and is reused back in the processes so that water resources are saved and environment pollution is reduced. Water recycling is the core to waste water drainage in Ronghui.
  The construction of water recycling system in Longgang factory was completed in 2008 with a water-yielding capacity of 120m3/h. It boasts a maximum reused water back to production line of 1000tons/ d. In 2009, the total amount of water reused was over 240,000 tons.
  Nanshan factory improved and renovated its original environmental protection facilities and introduced water recycling system, leading to additional 500 tons of reused water daily, the quality of which is higher than that of the standard of tap water. Water under the treatment of ultra filtration system of the Exterior drainage is reused by waste gas treatment facility and for flushing in industrial park and dormitory buildings. It boasts a water-yielding capacity of 20m3/h and reused amount of around 350 tons/d. In 2009 alone, the total recycled amount is over 90,000 tons and the rate of water reused reached 60%. In 2009, grinding plate waste water treatment system was newly added into use and daily water recycled is 100 tons.
  Longgang factory and Nanshan factory reuse around 250 tons of water each day by treating exterior drainage.
Water conservation in processes
  Aiming at saving water and power, under the guidance of 3C group, water conservation project is carried through in aspects like processes and facilities without any negative impact on product quality. In 2009, water consumption was reduced by 10%. Compared with 2008, water consumption of unit product was reduced by 18.51%.

Waste water treatment system
  At the first phase of the construction of waste water treatment system, Ronghui strives strived to serve as an example in clean production in the filed of PCB and takes the development of circular economy and harmony between human and environment as its mission. Ronghui creatively classifies waster water and waste liquor into 28 types and introduces advanced “three wastes” treatment technology. Pollutant contained in various kinds of waste water after being treated meets its standard and the concentration of pollutant after being classified is lower than 50% of the national level of standard. Delicate classification of waste water and full planning at the first phase ensure the successful progression of water recycling system in the later stages.

  If an enterprise only ensures environmental protection of its own products without that of the guarantee of its downstream suppliers, it will result in a worse pollution level of the life cycle of its products in the whole industry chain. Ronghui emphasizes “greenness”. Ronghui not only provides its customers with green products but also works wholeheartedly to implement the awareness of environmental protection throughout the whole industry chain in the hope that it will push ahead the establishment and improvement of green supply chain in the field of PCB and make sure the cleanness in the industry chain to the greatest extent.
Green service
  In accordance with the demand of customers, Ronghui guarantees that every product provided by it meets the requirement of ROHS. ROHS group members in Ronghui check articles used in the company at regular intervals, especially all those served to customers. Even a small staple in use in the final report of products will be under the inspection of ROHS.
Green procurement
  Ronghui maintains green procurement. Ever since it was recognized as the first batch of enterprises practicing green procurement in Huizhou in 2007, Ronghui has become stricter with its suppliers in terms of greenness. Based on international standards such as ISO14001 and new requirement of energy saving and environmental protection, Ronghui guides suppliers in all aspects from organization, processes to products and facilitates suppliers to meet the environmental protection demand required of by the society. Apart from the cooperation agreement, suppliers need to sign another pact with Ronghui, namely Ronghui Material and Technical Standards on Environmental Protection, which demands suppliers to submit a test report declaring harmful substance content of their products. Ronghui draws up MSDS and requests suppliers to post it at the work site to set up a standard for operation personnel.
Green package
  Ronghui extends the application of renewable package materials to its suppliers, such as increasing the proportion of halogen-free materials. In pursuit of moderate packaging, Ronghui advocates light and small packages so as to reduce consumption. On the other hand, Ronghui establishes and improves effective recycling system and gradually takes the usage of environmental friendly materials and employees’ safety into account in the assessment of its suppliers.
